NANA MILDRED’S CHOCOLATE SAUCE
Moo Moo remembers this treat as a holiday hit. “It really does not matter what other dessert is available and what you pour this on, whether ice cream or cake, this sauce is the main event.” It’s a perfectly rich sauce that I enjoyed on top of vanilla ice cream with some fresh fruits like strawberries and cherries.
Nana Mildred’s Chocolate Sauce
SERVINGS: ENOUGH FOR A GIANT PARTY
PREP TIME: 5 MINUTES
COOKING TIME: 15-20 MINUTES
TOTAL TIME: 20-25 MINUTES
INGREDIENTS
8 oz. unsweetened baking chocolate
1/2 cup of butter (1 full stick)
3 cups powdered confectionary sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 can evaporated milk
Pinch of salt
Instructions
Prep
Use a double broiler with simmering water in the bottom of the pan and ingredients in the top section.
Make the Sauce
Melt chocolate and butter in the top of the double broiler. Stir to melt and combine. Add sugar, salt, vanilla, and a little milk at a time, stirring until it is smooth and the right thickness. It is best to go slowly here with the goal being to remove any graininess from the sauce.Serve
Over ice cream or any dish of your choice.
