NAAN PROTEIN BREAD
Recently, there have been hundreds of influencers promoting “gut-healthy, hormone-balancing” cottage cheese recipes on the internet. I have to admit, this cottage cheese naan bread recipe is worth a shot if you're bread-obsessed, like me, but want to eat something with a little more substance. It’s not a replica of traditional naan bread. But it’s a winner. I often make it as a quick and easy after-school snack.
NAAN PROTEIN BREAD
SERVINGS: 4 PIECES OF NAAN
PREP TIME: 10 MINUTES
COOKING TIME: 10 MINUTES
TOTAL TIME: 20 MINUTES
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of bread flour (bread flour makes it chewier, but all-purpose flour works too)
2/3 cup of cottage cheese
About 1 tablespoon + 2 tablespoons of olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of red pepper
1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon of oregano
1 teaspoon + 1/2 teaspoon of salt
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cottage cheese, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Kneed with your hands until it becomes a dough. Roll the dough into a ball and cut into quarters.
Cook the Naan
Roll each quarter out onto a floured cutting board with a rolling pin until relatively thin. Heat the pan on medium heat, and once hot, add about 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. Cook each piece of naan on each side for about 2-4 minutes or until golden brown.
Make the Olive Oil Seasoning
In a small bowl, mix about 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the red pepper, oregano, Italian seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Once each piece of bread comes off the pan, coat both sides with the olive oil seasoning.
Serve and Enjoy!
